Just a few stuff on MTV Movie Awards

Hey y'all or whoever will read this,

Just a couple of comments I had about the awards, I really liked them. Better than any awards I've seen in the UK! (Sorry this post is late I only just got to see the awards, had them on record.)

Here goes:

I loved the start. Especially Iron Man suit, Haha! Really starting to like James Franco as well, looking forward to him in This is the end.

That performance in the first 5 minutes is better than any awards UK has ever had. I love it. Although I originally thought the rapper to Lose Yourself was Paul Rudd...

Best Male - Bradley Cooper, BOOM an award for Silver Linings Playbook. Course Jennifer Lawrence was brilliant but he was really good too!

Fight Scene - Avengers definitely deserved to win that!
I probably need to see Django Unchained, sorry guys.

Reminds me i’m looking forward to Star Trek the first one was real good. That is Sylar from Heroes though, he will never change.

How can TED have be nominated for fight scene and shirtless? hahahah

Trailblazer - Awhh you gotta love Hermonine especially in the first Harry Potters a truly deserved award

Jonah Hill is hilarious, another one im looking forward to seeing in this is the end

Best Kiss – Couldnt argue with Silver Linings Playbook, all nominated were really sweet though.

Comedic Genius – I fricking love Will Ferrell as an actor, and loved his suit. Not sure about him in real life though.

FAST AND FURIOUS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 11 YEARS, SAY WHAA?!?!?!?! That has gone fast (no pun intended) really looking to the new one.

Breakthrough - Rebel Wilson had to win one. Again, sorry I haven't seen Pitch Perfect.

Shirtless - Im a boy, I don’t comment on shirtless sorry ladies. Although they should have a woman's shirtless category, that would be gooooood....

Im liking the action in Iron Man 3, will probably go see that with my buds.

Chloe Grace Mortez has grown up, haven’t seen her in ages

Villain - I thought Skyfall would get villain fair play to Tom Hiddleston though.
I get excited for this hunger games exclusive even though ive seen it 4000 times! Down with the Capitol!

It just looks so good!

Best Film - AVENGERS! I loved Silver Linings Playbook, but  could see Avengers coming. A really brilliant film, well deserved!

Music Performances – Both really good, better the some UK award performances. I liked both songs and both artists, so hey ho good for me.

Overall brilliant awards, top job MTV and America!

Comment below on what you thought of the awards, would love to hear what you have to say!:)

Avengers Assemble: mainly characters with a little bit on quotes.

Hey y'all or whoever will read this,

Avengers. I watched the film for the first time last weekend, and, well it blew me away, what a film! Now I don't usually like superhero films because there seems to just be a template for them, if you get what I mean. Now if there is a template Avengers completely deviated from that and it was brilliant. They were so many story lines which made it fascinating. It wasn't just saving the world, there was the whole complexity (is that a word?) of the tessaract and then each individual story behind each character.

The Avengers gave me what a wanted and more. Going back to the template point, superhero films are largely based on; big hero, gets down in the dumps, looks like he's not gonna save the world, ends up saving the world. The little storylines enable the plot to deviate from this template which gave it its main enjoyment factor.

Now I guess with a film like this the main aspect is each character of the Avengers, now I had some favourites and one not so favourite, But here goes...

Hawkeye, Power/ Skill Set: 5.5/10     Personality: 5/10

Second to none (except Legolas) on shooting an arrow at any given target, this skill was incredible. However skills are low because the aiming was unbelievable yet the damage was done by an explosive tip. Come on superheroes can have cool weapons like Captain America and Thor but Hawkeye didn't vary from the actual use of the weapon or use it in a creative way like the two mentioned do. And he was completely out gunned at close quarters combat by Black Widow, who I suppose is the king (or should I say queen) of close quarter combat. So we can let him off there. But even at the final battle he was kinda stuck on the top of a building using explosives. Personality bit robotic, (SPOILER) yes he was controlled for most of it but I never saw much after. I like a bit of personality, its the human element for superheroes and it can be their weakness.

Iron Man, Power/ Skill Set: 9/10     Personality: 10/10 as well as 1/10

Iron Man, Iron Man, Iron Man. Why am I the only one that doesn't particularly like him? Okay  the suit is pretty awesome, but it's just a suit and he's got it because he's rich? Not like Thor, Black Widow etc. But I guess the rating has to be high because after all his suit is brilliant and he was crucial in winning the final battle. Same was his personality, I guess he was the only one that was out there and talk a lot, and he was funny in parts. But I just didn't like him but I can appreciate why people do.

Captain America, Power/ Skill Set: 7/10     Personality: 7/10

Yes this man has a manufactured kind of weapon but it can be used very well in attack, which obviously isn't its purpose and that pushes the Power/Skill Set up a bit, plus the awesome Wolverine/ Sabretooth run over the taxis. He shows a bit more compassion than the others, he seems to care a lot more. He shy streak at the start is understandable as its true he probably doesn't understand the world he is in. I do like this character a lot he adds a more human side to relate to.

Thor, Power/ Skill Set: 9/10     Personality: 6.5/10

One word classy. He's probably inherited it as a demi god but still he pretty much does what wants, and can do it (except when it comes to hitting CA shield haha!) He's pretty cool shows elements of humour and compassion, also think there's a dark side to his character like some who would switches sides to me. Could happen in Avengers 2? Just putting it out there. But still very classy.

Black Widow, Power/ Skill Set: 6.5/10     Personality: 10/10     Hotness: 10000000/10

I just love her, Queen of close combat, she had Hawkeye. Only criticism she kinda only had guns but I guess the close combat mad up for it a bit and you need someone like that in every fighting movie. Her personality was brilliant she had a dark side, sneaky side, humourous side (providing one of the quotes of the movie), I can see potential for compassion. And finally, jaysus, she's hot!

Hulk, Power/ Skill Set: 9.5/10 Personality: 8/10

The beast didn't come out for half the film, but when it did the sh*t hit the fan (excuse my french.) The climax built up for his unleashment (I know it's not a word) and it didn't disappoint. He destroyed the original S.H.I.E.L.D ship, but him and iron man pretty much saved the battle against the ! I liked his personality too well it was in the form of Dr Banner but he also had a quite side another character i feel can evolve a lot more in the avengers plot. I felt for him, it seemed that he was there just to become the hulk not for his research on gamma radiation.

The last thing I wanted to talk about was quotes (top 10 movie quotes) now there is nothing better than a good quote in a movie, it can bring humour or just make the character look cool and just downright awesome. There were 4 particular ones in Avengers that got me;

Loki: I have an army.
Tony Stark: We have a Hulk.

This quote was just so good, it summed Loki up to a t

T, how weak he was and how much he relied on his staff. Iron Man destroyed him with words, it was brilliant.

Dr Banner: I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You can smell crazy on him.
Thor: Have a care how you speak! Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard and he is my brother!
Black Widow: He killed eighty people in two days.
Thor: He's adopted.

Loki gets bullied around and undermind even when he's not there, just hilarious when Thor came out with it. Loki is just way out of his league in every way with these avengers.

Security Guard: Are you an alien?
Bruce Banner: What?
Security Guard: From outer space, an alien.
Bruce Banner: No.
Security Guard: Well then son, you've got a condition.

The contrast from complete rage to humour, made me include this quote. Class.

Tony Stark: Then tell him to suit up... I'm bringing the party to you.
[he and the Leviathan break out of a building and speed away toward the rest of the Avengers]
Natasha Romanoff: I, I don't see how that's a party...

This one was probably my favourite quote, added with the expression from Scarlett Johansson was very good, it also tied in well with the kind of humour Iron Man has and they were both on the same wavelength.

All in all, This is definitely in my (non ranked) top 10, just a really good  film exciting, and definitely not like your usual superhero film. And that's definitely in a good way. Brilliant film and definitely looking forward to the rumoured Avengers 2.

Ciao for now,

Please leave a comment, it really helps.

Comedy Trailer Rant

Hey y'all or whoever will read this,

Trailers are all good, most serve their purpose well and give you an insight into the film its advertising. But when it comes to Comedy Trailers, they sometimes infuriate me.

This is because the trailer includes all the funny parts in the movie which they are able to cram into a minute or so. Then I go and see the film expecting similar gaffs from the trailer to be in the film throughout but they’re not. The only funny jokes that were in the film were the ones that had been in the 2 minutes I watched before I went to see it.

This annoys me because I should just forget spending money going to see it and watch the 2 minute clip for free online instead, it’s a real let down for me.
Kick-Ass - guilty.

The film that comes to mind concerning this subject was Kick-Ass, I only found the trailer funny and since then knowing the jokes, I couldn’t find them funny in the actual film. I think that is the comedy I have laughed the least throughout the whole film. Disappointing.

This happening has made me quite wary of some comedies it has forced me to look at rating before to make sure this doesn’t happen. Kick-Ass 2 comes out later this year and it is debatable whether I will go to see it. I suppose I will watch Kick-Ass again on DVD nearer the time of the film again and give it another bash but I will be much cautious with shelling out the money to go see Kick-Ass 2 at the cinema purely because of this. And especially because the days of being able to bring a fiver to get into the cinema have gone!

Now, it is not just Kick-Ass there have been other films guilty of this crime but Kick-Ass has been the worst, a prime example especially with a sequel due to come out this year.

Rant over.

For your information, August 16th 2013 is the release date for Kick-Ass 2.

How do you rate your favourite films?

Hey y'all or whoever will read this,

This is my first blog and similarly my first blog post. My names Jamie, I love a good film and thought i'd give writing about them a bash. Any comments and advice would much appreciated and i'll be sure to take them on board!
Anyway enough about all of that we'll get stuck into films, especially favourite ones. How did you choose your favourite film? Do you have one? I couldn't choose one, my mind changes like the weather on that subject. There are just so many films and factors that come into it for me.
Would you choose a favourite film on the basis of one that suits the mood your in, e.g a comedy if your feeling happy? Would that determine it? Would it be down to one you are able to watch again and again and never get bored? One that inspires you? One that makes you feel good inside, lifts you? One that you can complete immerse yourself in the characters world, that you start to think like the characters what you would do in their situations, without even realising you are that immersed into their world? What about one that makes you cry, tears of sorrow and pain for the people on screen? There are so many questions to ask about what makes it a favourite film, or even just a good one.

Just gotta smile or is it just my humor?
In my opinion, mood changes everything, if i'm not in the mood to watch a particular type of film then I cant enjoy it, that's just me. Will I ever come across a film that will make me want to watch it whatever the weather? Only time will tell, I guess. But I feel a film like that would have to be the favourite one that draws me to it whatever. However, watching a film too many times will kill it completely, especially a comedy. A good plot is the most important thing for a film, the acting doesn't matter if the plot isn't good. By watching it too many time kills the plot. Then ultimately kills the film. Two films spring to mind concerning this subject; Death Race and American Pie. Both have their different reasons. Watching Death Race a second time killed it for me, the first time I told my friends "you have to watch this, its one of the best," but the second time killed it and for me I cant be one of the best. On the other hand American Pie, never ever ever ever fails to make me smile.(Those evers are there for a reason!) Even after many times, that is one of the comedy's that really stand out for me.
Great Film - And not just
because Jennifer Lawrence
is in it!
Back to mood, I have watched Inception which had a crazy response, it was showered in praise. It didn't phase me but i was in a jolly mood, aspects were depressing and I wasn't blow away, looking back I could potentially be up there for me but would have to watch it more seriously. A film I was blown away by which is quite serious, was The Hunger Games. I got it last Christmas on DVD and cannot believe I didn't see it at the cinema, I liked it a lot purely because it got me immersed in the world I was thinking like I was an actual tribute, it was fantastic. Coach Carter is a stunner as well in inspiring you, the ending is the best I have seen in any sports film. But the inspiration got me the most if i'm honest.
Coach Carter - The quotes in this are
unbelievable.
No film has a culmination of everything for me as it think it would be to hard to put each of these aspects in, that's why there will never be a favourite for me, I have to have many to achieve each and every aspect fully. Now i'm not saying a film has to be an absolute blockbuster to fill the aspects I want, its just the little things that make me fall in love with a film (unfortunately, (some will say) is that Adam Sandler films do this for me).

Now i could blab on about this for years if i'm honest, its one I debate with myself a lot, what will be my favourite film. But i'm going to stop here, there are still rom com's and what they do for me and also film series. I don't want to go into too much detail on this first blog entry, just a little taste and see what feedback I get from this, I would still like to go on but must hone my writing skills first and get a lot of pieces under my belt before I can do this one again properly. But I really hope I made some sense to people and you were in agreement with some of my thoughts. Also don't mind giving me a slating and a right grilling, I like them, its keeps you grounded and gives you something to work for.
Anyways I don't really like writing much about that kind of stuff because its not film related and that's what i'm here for! But i guess i feel its necessary seeing as it is my first blog. I guess these kind of posts will come but I hope to be doing some on specific films (they probably wont be the latest releases, though some will).
That's all i've really got to say for now, but i hope you liked it and you kept reading the whole way through, but I guess you have if you have got to this point. Please comment you'll put a smile on my face whatever it says and an even bigger smile if its a grilling! Haha!

Laters,
